Day 82 “Max Snatch”
Max Snatch
235lbs. Power Snatch
I have a lot of work to do on Snatch. It is such a technical lift and if your form is not perfect than your either gonna hurt yourself or fail the rep.
The goal of course is to do a squat snatch and thats where I am currently failing at higher weights. Snatch has always been a challenge for me because of my crappy shoulders (thank you football). Whenever I get into the higher weights my shoulders tire quickly, therefore taking away the stability to catch and balance the weight. This in-turn takes away my confidence.
Today was an accomplishment on the mental side of it for me because 95lbs. felt heavy and hurt my shoulders. When I hit 205 I was mentally beaten. Then on 225 my right shoulder caught and popped out on the way up on my first attempt. In my opinion snatch more than any other lift requires mental strength and confidence, so overcoming that today was big for me. The 235 was not pretty but it was a good lift, it just wasn’t a squat snatch.
On a side note my chest and shoulders started to get sore when I got to the gym. That was not a good WOD to do yesterday prior to max snatch. I have already iced my chest twice tonight and will do it again before bed. Gotta get ready for the total on Sunday!
